Denying the Holy Spirit

And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.
Luke 12:10

So, it is ok to speak badly against Jesus, but not ok to speak badly against the Holy Spirit? But Jesus and the Holy Spirit are the same thing. Can Christians please try to get some semblance of rationality with the bible?

  1. "But Jesus and the Holy Spirit are the same thing."

No, Jesus and the Holy Spirit aren't the same thing; they're two distinct persons of the trinity. If you're going to attempt a critique of the text, be sure you understand the belief system you're examining.

  2. I completely understand the belief system. They are both part of the Trinity, which does not negate anything I said when I posted they are the same thing. They ARE the same thing, parts of this mythical god of yours.

  3. Jeff, they are both part of the trinity, but they are not the "same thing." Your initial claim is still false. A major and minor premise are both parts of the same argument, but it would be false to claim that they are "the same thing."

  4. Of course they are the same thing. According to your myth, there is one god. One. Now you also claim he has three attributes, which is beyond absurd, but let us deal with the Trinity as it is presented. Jesus is the god of the OT, he is the god of the NT and therefore he is also the Holy Spirit.

  5. In other words, what attributes does the Holy Spirit have that Jesus does not also have? If there is a difference, then Jesus is not omnipotent and all powerful.
